Biographies
 
 

William B. Carter, Jr.: Mr. Carter last served as President of Global Crossing Development Co. and Vice Chairman of Global Marine and was the Company's senior executive in charge of development where he developed and implemented an $8 billion international undersea and terrestrial network. Prior to joining Global Crossing, Mr. Carter spent 30 years with AT&T, where he headed up the International Facilities Planning (both cable and satellite) and served as President and Chief Executive Officer for Submarine Systems Inc. (SSI) and as the Director of International Network Operations for AT&T. During Mr. Carter's tenure, SSI had the leading worldwide market share in undersea cable industry, with an average market share of 35%-50%. Mr. Carter is a member of the World Telecommunications Advisory Council to the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and Senior Advisory Council to the U.S. government on communications and economic development. Mr. Carter received a BEE degree from Georgia Institute of Technology and has completed the advanced program for senior managers at MIT's Sloan School.

   
   

S. Wallace Dawson, Jr.: Mr. Dawson last served as Executive Vice President Global Network and Chief Engineer at Global Crossing. Previously, he served as Chief Executive Officer, Atlantic Crossing. Mr. Dawson has broad management experience in a number of critical areas involving digital lightwave undersea cable systems. Prior to joining Global Crossing, Mr. Dawson spent 29 years at AT&T where he held numerous positions in the area of undersea cable systems and in the development and implementation of AT&T Switched Services and Data Networking Services. At AT&T SSI, he had overall delivery responsibility for implementation of all submarine cable projects. He first joined Bell Laboratories in 1968 and became associated with AT&T Long Lines 11 years later. His initial work centered on specialized equipment design for military and commercial undersea cable systems. A registered professional engineer and member of Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu, Mr. Dawson holds a B.E.E. from the University of Virginia and an M.S.E.E. from Duke University. He also completed the advanced management program at INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France.

 
 

Richard C. Mondello: Mr. Mondello last served as Senior Vice President - Global Network Planning and Undersea Systems at Global Crossing. There he was responsible for all elements of the undersea network, including planning, engineering, system procurement, project management, and system operations and maintenance. Prior to joining Global Crossing, Mr. Mondello served in a number of senior positions at AT&T SSI. These included head of cable development, chief quality officer and Vice President of Manufacturing and Procurement. He started his 30-year career at AT&T in Bell Laboratories. While there, he developed and patented the world's first transoceanic undersea fiber optic cable, which continues to be used as the basis for most of the world's undersea cable systems. Mr. Mondello has a B.S. in aerospace engineering, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Applied Mechanics from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. He is also a graduate of the Carnegie-Mellon program for Executives.

   
   

Lisa S. Dadouris: Ms. Dadouris last served as Vice President of Business Development for Global Crossing. She was responsible for activities related to the planning and economic analysis of global undersea network expansion. Prior to joining Global Crossing, Ms. Dadouris spent twelve years at AT&T and Lucent Technologies, where she held a number of key positions in business development, marketing, and finance - primarily in the undersea cable area. Ms. Dadouris represented AT&T in the procurement and adjudication of numerous cable systems in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Caribbean and was instrumental in the development and sale of the first totally private cable system, Atlantic Crossing. Ms. Dadouris graduated from Wake Forest University with a B.S. in Business and earned an M.B.A. in accounting from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. She also completed the advanced management program in International Business Strategy at Columbia University.

 
 

Rosie Heatley Lunde: Ms. Lunde has more than 25 years of undersea system experience specializing in development, engineering, and project management of major construction projects. As Vice President of Undersea Project Management for Global Crossing, Ms. Lunde directed the development, planning, engineering, and construction of the undersea cable network. Previously, Ms. Lunde led the production planning, commercial negotiations, and transition to manufacture of AT&T's Submarine Systems division's undersea cable procurement. As Technical Director at AT&T Bell Laboratories, she led the mechanical development of cable terminations and connectors for various underwater military applications and where she designed the first cable joint for a fiber optic undersea cable. Ms. Lunde holds a BSME from Grove City College and an MSME from Stanford University. She also earned an MBA with a specialty in accounting.

   
   

Edward F. Guida: Mr. Guida last served as Global Crossing's Senior Director - Regional Program Development and was responsible for construction project management for Asia Pacific subsea cable systems (Pacific Crossing and East Asia Crossing). Mr. Guida was with Global Crossing's subsea department for four years and prior to that was with AT&T's Submarine Systems Inc. During his 34-year telecommunication career he has held positions in switching engineering, network planning, operations, sales and product management with Bell Telephone Laboratories, AT&T and New Jersey Bell. Mr. Guida's education includes a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering.

 
 

Donald C. Salerno: Mr. Salerno has over 40 years experience in the telecommunications industry in Engineering and Operations disciplines. Over 35 years were spent with AT&T where he was instrumental in the evolution of the digital network and intelligent service platforms for national and worldwide service applications. Most recent positions directed the development of the operations organization, management structure, policies and procedures responsible for managing the worldwide Global Crossing transport network. This included the development of the Network Operations Center (NOC) and the field operations for both submarine and terrestrial based networks. He later guided the day-to-day operations of the network. Mr. Salerno has previous consulting experience, serving national and global clients striving to achieve top service quality operations.

   
   

Martin R. Lunde: Mr. Lunde has 35 years of building design, construction and inspection experience. Most recently Mr. Lunde managed the design and oversaw the permitting, construction, inspection and quality control, from inception to occupancy, of Global Crossing landing stations around the globe. As President of DECTRA CORPORATION Mr. Lunde advises facility owners, building design firms and contractors regarding design issues, construction methods and energy analysis. A Registered Professional Engineer and a member of Pi Tau Sigma and Chi Epsilon, Mr. Lunde holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University and an MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Minnesota. In addition, Mr. Lunde has been a member of ASME and ASCE for 30 years, has authored and published 11 technical papers related to structural and mechanical design, and is a guest lecturer regarding HVAC and energy design issues at the University of Minnesota.

 
 

Tommy L. Sanders: Mr. Sanders is an experienced telecom manager with thirty years of success in cross-functional disciplines including engineering, operations, project management, and documentation and training. Mr. Sanders last served as Director - Project Management at Tyco Submarine Systems where he designed, organized and staffed the Documentation/Training group and managed the development and delivery of training and documentation to end-user customers. Earlier in his career at AT&T, Mr. Sanders successfully led numerous large-scale project management initiatives including the conversion of the entire 4,000 employee CIO/CTO organization to Project Based Budgeting, and the design and implementation of the TELSAM customer satisfaction/perception data base. A retired U.S. Army officer, Mr. Sanders holds a B.S. in electrical engineering and an M.B.A. in finance.

   
   

Anita Abbate: Ms. Abbate last served as Director Undersea Marketing of Global Crossing Development Company where she served as liaison between the parent company Global Crossing and Global Marine Systems. Prior to joining Global Crossing, Ms. Abbate held a number of significant positions in marketing, event management, and human resources at AT&T. She was a member of the AT&T Team for the Atlanta Centennial Olympic Games, served on the SubOptic '97 Conference and Exhibition Steering Committee, and held leadership roles in planning and conducting a number of cable ship christenings. Previously, she served as Protocol Officer, providing expertise in designing and executing high quality corporate global conferences and special events, trade shows, customer visits, and incentive recognition programs for Senior Executives. Mrs. Abbate has additional experience as a paralegal and in supporting large government bids.
